As one of the Southeast’s premier arts festivals, Artsplosure attracts tens of thousands to downtown Raleigh during the third weekend of May each year. This year’s 38th annual festival continues the tradition of presenting high quality and accessible visual art and live music for free in the heart of the capital city.

Musical performers include William Bell and his 11-piece band, High + Mighty Brass Band, Violet Bell (with Lizzy Ross), Phil Cook and many others. Over 170 juried visual artists and craftspeople from across the country exhibit and sell their original works of art. Food & beverage are available from a variety of vendors.

  1. Hey Steve,
Thank you for your posts, I had a hard time finding the list of performers on their website. I really appreciate your highlighting the “best bets” William Bell and his 11-piece band, High + Mighty Brass Band, Violet Bell (with Lizzy Ross), Phil Cook. Are there any that tend toward a more traditional blues style?

    • Hey Chris,
As you are noting, this year’s blues-influenced acts are an amalgamation of blues, soul, gospel, funk, jazz, R&B, and hip hop. Touches of New Orleans from High + Mighty and, perhaps, Tank + the Bangas, and Shreveport’s Seratones. Thanks for the question.
