Richie Havens passed away yesterday, April 22 – appropriately, Earth Day 2013.
Triangle area audiences were graced with several moving performances from him over the years. I have a particular memory of a woman in tears at the end of a show at Town Hall music club on Franklin Street in Chapel Hill, circa 1976.
